| Small paper pulp catalog released in 1937 only, introducing and advertising the first authentic scale model of the mighty New York Central Hudson. The J-1 Hudson engine number was 5344 (cab number), but Lionel's catalog number was 700E, or 700K (kit form). Probably the most desirable Pre-War O gauge engine Lionel produced. This highly detailed text catalog cover the whole engine from top to bottom. Details casting process and parts (drive rods, whistle, wheels, water heater, flag holder, steps, and more - with illustrations). Has numbered chart showing all the part, also an extensive look at both the engine and tender. This catalog did what the consumer catalog couldn't! 16 illustrated black and white pages. The cover folded out has great complete illustration of the engine. At $75, this was the cream of the crop in the toy market in 1937 (did include the walnut stand with plaque). Tough piece to find - a one year publication. Measures 8 inches x 5 and a half inches. |
